Nancy Lorraine Klicker

October 8, 1935 — October 21, 2023

Walla Walla

Nancy L. Klicker, an amazing woman of faith and hospitality, passed away at 88 years old. Her greatest joy was showing her unconditional love and serving so many as a loving spouse, mother, MIL, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and cousin, and sharing that same love with others who she considered her family.

Nancy Lorraine Klicker

October 8, 1935 – October 21, 2023

On October 21, 2023, Nancy Lorraine Klicker was taken to heaven to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family.

Nancy was born October 8, 1935, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Walla Walla, WA, to Hubert Floyd Brown and Illyne Nelson Brown.

Growing up, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her aunts, uncles, cousins, and school friends. She was an exceptional student and a school leader. She was proud of her accomplishments as part of the high school Dolphinette Swim Team and WWHS Yell Squad. Summers were spent working as a “Klicker Picker,” then as a lifeguard. After high school graduation in 1953, she briefly attended college before marrying her former strawberry field boss, Bob Klicker. While in Guam, Bob had a vision that he would marry a very special girl. On January 2, 1955, that vision came true when they got married. Together, they worked hard, laughed often, supported each other, shared much love with family and friends, enjoyed traveling, and raised their three sons and eight grandchildren for 67 years.

Nancy actively supported her husband, Bob, in many national, state, county, and community organizations. She grew up in and was a member of Pioneer United Methodist Church. She was very involved in the Walk to Emmaus, received 2 Golden Acorn Awards for her work in school PTA’s, earned a 40-year jewel as a member of Narcissa Rebekah Lodge #2, and cherished her time leading the PUMC Bereavement Committee.

Nancy was truly the rock of the Klicker family’s farming and enterprise ventures. She kept all the books and did the payroll and tax reporting for the many ventures that Bob and her sons pursued. However, her most important role was that of encourager, supporter, listener, confidant, laugh creator, and making everyone feel important and welcome.

Many will remember Nancy for her hospitality, laughter, and ability to carry on hours of conversation. Her coffee pot was always ready for the next visitor, and she enjoyed sharing life around her oak table and having endless conversations. Many of those conversations centered on organizing another family reunion from her genealogy tree. Not sure which branch on the tree you fit? No problem. Nancy would pour you another cup of coffee and tell you the story.

Nancy was an avid sports fan and loved following local sports teams. She faithfully attended her sons’ and grandchildren’s performances and sporting events. Nancy’s love for Jesus Christ and her family were priorities. She blended them together beautifully each Christmas with a family and friends Birthday Party for Jesus. This included her reading ‘Twas the Night Before Jesus and her uncontrolled-laughing version of marching elves and fairies as she read ‘Twas Right Before Christmas.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Kirk (Nancy, Jr), Kraig (Charlotte), and Mark (Lisa) Klicker; eight grandchildren: Travis (Chelsea), Nick (Hillary), Natalie (William), Kyla (Collin), Hope (Kramer), Jason (Jenn), Jami, and Eric (Madison); and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, and sister, Karen Messenger.
