Nancy A Arnold

December 11, 1934 — May 21, 2015

Nancy A. (Payne) Arnold, 80, of Walla Walla, passed away suddenly on May 21, 2015, at home. Nancy was born in Kelso, Wash., on Dec. 11, 1934, to the late Ray and Agnes (Hose) Payne. She married Dewey (Bud) Arnold on June 20, 1964, and they were married just 18 days short of 50 years when Bud passed away on June 2, 2014.

Nancy graduated from RA Long High School in Longview, Wash., in June 1953. She attended Northwest Bible College in Seattle, graduating in May 1957.

She worked at Walla Walla Rogers Canning Company, where she met her future husband, Bud. Together they taught fourth- and fifth-grade Sunday School students at College Place Presbyterian Church over 30 years, and Nancy was still teaching an adult Bible Study for women on Tuesdays at the Assembly of God Church until her passing. Many of their Sunday School students, as well as nieces and nephew were taught to water ski behind Bud’s boat. As gardeners they shared their produce and jams with friends and family.

Nancy was predeceased by a sister, Jean Marie Payne; and brother, Richard Albert Payne on Aug. 10, 1946. She is survived by a sister, Marian, (Ivan) Christensen of Wenatchee; brother, Russell (Carol) Payne of Kenosha, Wis.; nieces, Sara Christensen, Laura Colberg, Jeanne Munson all of Washington, Rhonda O’Connor of Kenosha, Wis.; and nephew, Kennan Christensen of Washington; as well as seven grand-nephews and two grand-nieces.

Graveside services will be under the direction of Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, May 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
