Lifelong resident, Nadine Lou Wendler, 89, passed away on Nov. 25, 2014. She was born in Walla Walla to Joe and Fern Taylor. Nadine attended local schools and Linfield College then worked at the McCaw Hospital during WWII. In 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, Les Wendler, at the White Temple First Baptist Church where they enjoyed many friends and activities. When their 3 children were young, she faithfully attended their many games and events. Nadine then went to work at the Walla Walla Country Club office, retiring as Office Manager.
Nadine and Les traveled around the NW to Dixieland and barbershop quartet weekends. They also enjoyed traveling internationally and taking trips around the U.S. with family and friends, yet they loved to be home working in the garden or visiting with neighbors. Family gatherings always included games; Nadine was an avid Mariner and Seahawk fan.
Nadine also enjoyed golfing with the ladies of the Memorial Golf Club and playing bridge at the Senior Center. She attended Beth Moore Bible studies and was a member of the Walla Walla Presbyterian Church. Nadine always had a loving smile and had a generous spirit. She was a kind, gentle soul who radiated love for all she met.
Nadine was preceded in death by her husband, Les, and her brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Mildred Taylor. She is survived by her daughter, Marcia of Walla Walla; sons, Greg of Kennewick and Robert (Nancy) of Sandy, Utah; grandsons, Scott (Alisha), Craig (Darci), Austin Wendler and granddaughter, Rachelle (Michael) Welch of Boise; great-grandchildren, Tyden, Genevieve Lynn, and Ainsley; 5 nieces and one nephew and their families.
A graveside service will be held at the Mountain View Cemetery at 1 p.m. Thursday, December 4, 2014 followed by the memorial service at 2 p.m. in the Walla Walla Presbyterian Church at the corner of First and Birch with the Rev. Albert Gillin presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walla Walla Presbyterian Church or the Walla Walla Senior Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
