Myron James Huie, 72, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2026, at his home in Walla Walla, Wash. Myron was born in Walla Walla on September 1, 1953, to James B. and Clara (Bong) Huie.
Myron was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed. He found faith in his Savior as a teenager, and he loved sharing the Good News with others. He also learned to play guitar as a teenager and loved playing on church worship teams as well as with local bands.
Another of his passions was aviation. He took flying lessons and was involved in the Walla Walla Air Show, but he was most passionate about hot-air ballooning, becoming a pilot, and even owning his own balloon for a time.
Myron valued thoughtful conversation and public service. He was actively engaged in his community, serving on numerous local boards and commissions, and as a Walla Walla City Council member from 2018 to 2021.
Myron took great interest in local Chinese history, particularly the Pendleton Underground, where he played the role of Hop Sing, the Chinese laundryman, for nearly 20 years, bringing his sense of humor to the role.
Myron will be remembered for that sense of humor, his love for his faith, and his dedication to the community. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family and friends he loved so dearly.
Myron was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Marty Huie. He is survived by his wife, Heather Huie; sister, Lindy Ko (Bill); his children, Cherylyn Hoerner (Chris), Cory Huie (Katrina), and Chet Huie (Caitlin); stepdaughter, Patty McDevitt; and nine grandchildren: Catherine and Ryan Hoerner, Wyatt, Riley, and Bailey Huie, Christian and Damien Wilson, Max Melton and Kimber Huie.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Stateline Community Church on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 11:15 AM, followed by another passion of his -- food and fellowship.
