Myrna Loy Hutchison

June 28, 1941 — September 5, 2023

Dayton

Myrna Loy Hutchison passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Rivers Walk Assisted Living Facility in Dayton on September 5, 2023.

Myrna was born June 28, 1941, to William Francis Balding and Fairy June (Kneff) Balding in Dayton, WA. She was the 7th child and the baby in the family of all daughters. The seven sisters formed many wonderful and hilarious memories throughout their lifetimes together. Myrna cherished and looked forward to all their “sister parties” as they were filled with laughter, love, and fabulous food.

Growing up in Dayton, Myrna attended local schools and did some seasonal work at the Green Giant. While at a social function, a mutual friend introduced her to Bobby Lee Hutchison as “his future wife.” The two were soon married on November 7, 1962. They would have been married 60 years; Bobby passed away six months prior to making this milestone.

Literature, art, and music were important to Myrna. Some of her favorite trips taken were to see the Treasures of Tutankhamun in Seattle in 1978; others were various impressionist art exhibits, with her favorite artist being Van Gogh. Myrna was a voracious reader, with a wide variety of authors/subjects read, but Hemingway was favored. She loved broad styles of music. Her best-loved concert memories include seeing Aerosmith at Seattle Center in 1997 with her children and The Judds with her daughter and granddaughter. Myrna was known for making wonderful homemade meals and pies. Her favorite hobby was gardening; she loved her flowers and took great care, making her flower gardens thrive every year.

Myrna’s number one priority in life was her spiritual faith in God and her family. She was a 30+ year member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Dayton. She loved her children and her grandchildren; and was blessed with great-grandchildren as well. Myrna watched and took care of many children over the years in her home and loved and thoroughly enjoyed every single child.

Myrna is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Lee; her parents; sisters, Muriel Seagraves, Luana Mathews, Iola Bramhall, Donna Hart, and Dixie Robanske; niece, Diana Dierdorff; nephews, Mark Hatfield and Michael Davis.

Myrna is survived by her sister, Marlene Brodhead of Dayton; son, Scott and Pam Hutchison of Dayton; daughter, Juliet Hutchison of Walla Walla; granddaughter, Kristyn and Matt Johnson of Dayton; grandson, Tyler and Lydia Hutchison of Dayton; seven great-grandchildren: Kalder Mayberry, Grady Johnson, Bailey Johnson, Asher Johnson, Hannah Hutchison, Jasper Hutchison and Maverick Hutchison, all of Dayton.

The family of Myrna would like to thank the providers and all the staff at Rivers Walk Assisted Living Facility and of the former Booker Rest Home for the years of excellent care provided to Myrna during her time there.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 1:00 PM, at United Brethren Church in Dayton, WA, with Pastor Greg Brownell officiating.
