Mollie Louise Stratton Storey

Mollie Stratton Storey, a beloved member of our community, passed away on September 7, 2024, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

The funeral service to honor Mollie's life will be held at the Chapel of the Herring Funeral Home. The service, conducted by David Bruce, will take place on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at 10:00 AM. We invite all who knew and loved Mollie to join us in this solemn occasion.

Mollie was born June 17, 1922, in Wyoming, Illinois. She was the ninth child of Dewitt Clinton and Emma Welsh Stratton. Her mother died in 1926, and her father died in 1929. She was raised by her caring siblings, coming to live with her brother Joe and his wife Sofia in Walla Walla in 1937. She graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1939 and, after a few years, attended Walla Walla Business College. Her last employer was Niemi, Holland & Scott, where she had worked for 22 years.

She married Neil O. Storey on September 14, 1943, and they had 66 years of a happy marriage. Neil died on October 16, 2009. Both Neil and Mollie were members of Central Christian Church, where they sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, and served on several committees. They also volunteered at the Pantry Shelf for several years.

They had two children, Ned, who died November 19, 2010, and Maria. She and her husband, Phillip, live in Pendleton, Oregon.

She is preceded in death by all her siblings. Numerous nieces and nephews survive her.
