Mildred (Millie) Genevieve Solbach

Mildred passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 20, 2022, at the age of 88. She was born June 7, 1934, to Eddie and Marie Blackwell on a farm near Aurora, KS.

She married Vern Solbach on July 24, 1954. They were married for 68 years and had eight children.

Millie was a remarkable woman. She survived a bout with polio she contracted at the age of twelve. Through sheer grit and determination, she recovered to the extent that she could live a normal life. Marrying Vernon and having eight children, she was a devoted wife, a very extraordinary mother, and the best homemaker God ever created. She now takes her place in heaven in peace and free of all pain for all eternity.

Millie is survived by her husband, Vernon Anthony Solbach; children; Anthony Joseph (Tony) Solbach (Marlys), of Vermillion, SD, Edward John Solbach (Susie), of Vancouver, WA, Jeanne Marie Williams (Bobby), of Umapine, OR, Mary Kathryn Hammond (Ron), of Touchet, WA, Martha Michelle McEntire (Graham), of Adams, OR, Genevieve Joann Cooper (Tom), of Walla Walla, WA, and Renee Monica Porter, of Walla Walla, WA; sisters, Gladys Chaput and Mary Kenworthy; 24 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Erich Mathew Solbach; brothers, Richard Blackwell and Carroll Blackwell, sister, Margaret (Peggy) Sulanka; and her parents.

A Rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 6:00 pm, at the Chapel of the Herring Funeral Home. A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at 10:00 am, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Dale Tuckerman officiating.
