Marybelle L. Hopwood passed away March 20, 2018.
Marybelle was born February 15, 1925 in Dayton WA., to Charles & Bertha Wolfe. When Marybelle was 4 years old the family moved to Kamiah, Idaho where her father and brother owned a shingle mill. She attended school in Kamiah and when she was 13 the family moved back to Dayton. She attended Dayton High School and graduated in 1943.
She worked at the variety store, at the Blue Mtn. and Green Giant Cannery. She worked in the office of J.C. Penny Co. 1946. She married Rex Munden and had 2 boys Jerry and Dale. Later they divorced. In 1958 she married Bill Hopwood Sr. She went to work in Bill’s Thrift Store working 20 years in the meat dept. Her husband Bill worked for Columbia Co. Highway Dept.
When they retired from their jobs, they spent 5 years wintering in Arizona. They played music at Grange Dance Hall in Dayton and in Arizona. Music was a big part of their lives; Marybelle played piano beautifully all by ear. Marybelle loved to cook, sew, travel and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law’s, Jerry and Kay Munden of Salem OR., Dale and Vicky Munden of Haines, Alaska. Two step sons and daughter-in-law, Ted and Tonia Hopwood of Dayton, WA., Bill and Claudia Hopwood of Dayton, WA. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bill (Sept. 21, 2008), her parents Charles and Bertha Wolfe, 2 sisters Mayme Agee and Helen Taylor, 3 brothers George, Paul and Harry Wolfe, her step-daughter Judy Hopwood Reedy and grandson Tanner Munden.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, March 30, 2018 at 1:00PM. at the Mountain View Cemetery of Walla Walla.
