Mary J. Curcio passed away peacefully on March 7, 2018 at the Washington Odd Fellows Home.
Mary was born December 24, 1927 to Salvatore and Josephine Secolo in Walla Walla, WA. The eldest of three girls and three boys, she graduated high school from The Sisters of Charity of Providence in 1947.
That same year she married the love of her life, Sam Curcio, a marriage that would flourish for 49 years. Mary raised five children who had her doting affection. She was a housewife for 18 years then transitioned into a full-time job.
She served as the receptionist at Walla Walla Community College for 26 years. Mary was the first person to welcome students and visitors with her warm smile. She was so excellent at her job that the staff and administration at the college set aside a special week in 1980 as “Mary Curcio week”. Mary was an active volunteer and happily served wherever she was needed. She loved socializing and helping people.
She is survived by her sister Barbara, brother Robert, children Sam, Judee, Jerry, Rick and Bob, six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Salvatore and Josephine, husband Samuel, sister Rose and brothers Ralph and Samuel.
Graveside Services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens at 10AM with Reverend Steve Morris, Officiant.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Washington Odd Fellows or Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
