Mary A. Bridges

December 9, 1920 — March 9, 2015

Mary A. Bridges was born Dec. 9, 1920, in Chambers,
Neb., to Milo and Eliza Benson. The family
moved to Plainview, Neb., where she attended school
and eventually taught school in a one-room schoolhouse
for a year before marrying Don Bridges. They
made their home in Battle Creek, Neb. In 1951 they
moved to Milton-Freewater, where they made their
home until 1998. She was a homemaker and raised
four children.

She was always active in her church work. While
raising her kids she was active with them in Camp
Fire Girls and Boys Scouts. She encouraged her children
to be active in sports and music. In 1998 she
and her husband moved to Walla Walla to be closer to
their daughter because of her husband’s health. They
were active with Walla Walla Community College and
its basketball program. Her husband passed away in
1999. She lived her last few years at the Odd Fellows.

Preceding her were her husband, two sons, her mother,
father, several brothers and sisters. She leaves behind
one daughter, Marcia Daschofsky (Bob) of Walla
Walla; and one son, Bill Bridges (Carol) of Pendleton;
several nieces and nephews; grandchildren; and
great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to her wonderful Dr. Jon Gardner
and his nurse, Janice, and all the wonderful staff at
the Odd Fellows home whom she was blessed to know.

Graveside services will be held at the Milton-Freewater
Cemetery on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 10
a.m. and then a memorial service at Trinity Baptist
Church at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Trinity Baptist
Benevolent Fund through Herring Groseclose Funeral
Home, 315 W. Alder.
