Mary J. (Nolt) Anderson, 88, of College Place, died at her home July 4,
2017, with family by her side.

Mrs. Anderson was born May 5, 1929, in Mitchell S.D. to Walter and Kathleen Nolt. She graduated from Notre Dame Academy in Mitchell.
On Sept. 1, 1949, Mary married John W. Anderson in Mitchell, S.D. Mary was a mother of eight children, a grandmother of 11, and great-grandmother of 11.

Mary loved sports, both watching and participating. She bowled, skied, and golfed. She was an avid Gonzaga basketball fan. She served on Dayton City Council and she was a member of St. Joseph’s, Dayton and St. Francis’s, Walla Walla churches.

She is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Burton (Alan) of Dayton, Mary Lou Anderson, and Margaret Neace (Dan) of Walla Walla, Suzanne Anderson of Cove, Ore; three sons, John and Joseph (Amy) Anderson of Dayton, James (Toni) Anderson of Bahia Asuncion, Mexico; two sisters, Caroline Goldammer and Julie Graff of Mitchell, S.D. She was preceded in
death by a daughter, Lisa Marie Anderson in 1975; and husband, John W Anderson in 2005.

Rosary and Funeral Vigil will be recited Friday, July 14 at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A Memorial Funeral Mass will be Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s followed by private family graveside service. Luncheon will be served after funeral service in the church hall, Father Steve Werner will be officiating over both.

Memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice, March of Dimes, or charity of choice through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book at www.herringgroseclose.com.
