Martha Bonnell (Mansfield) Zier died peacefully on October 23, 2015. Martha was born January 16, 1920 in Walla Walla to Cammie (Shouse) Mansfield and Milton Browning Mansfield.
She graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1938 and lived all of her 95 years in Walla Walla. Martha married Herman Theodore Zier on August 17, 1941. Raising their six children and the church have been her life’s priorities, while gardening, sewing, knitting and quilting kept her busy and active throughout her life.
Martha always carried a bright and positive spirit and relished stories about her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church. With a desire to embody the church’s mission “To know and to do the will of the Lord Jesus Christ,” Martha co-founded a missionary quilting group at the church, which she actively participated in for over 40 years.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Herman in 1995; her brother, J.B. “Brownie” Mansfield in 2005; and her sister, Mitzi Bierwagen in 2011. She is survived by her six children Bill (Mary) Zier, Rich (Paula) Zier, Ron Zier, Tim Zier (Nancy Jordan), Jon (Monika) Zier, Liz (Steve) Campeau, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
