Marilyn, 82, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and treasured friend, passed away June 18, 2025, at her home in Walla Walla. Marilyn was born December 1, 1942, in Walla Walla to Albert and Amy (Jauslin) Biersner. After graduating from Wa-Hi in 1961, she attended Central Washington College, where she obtained a teaching degree. She was first hired in Renton, Washington, then by the Waitsburg school district; from there, she went to the College Place and Walla Walla School districts, retiring in 1999. On December 21, 1968, while teaching in Waitsburg, she married Ron Miller. This December would have been their 57th anniversary. She left a positive impact on her students and the teachers with whom she taught. In the early 90s, she returned to school, receiving master's and doctorate degrees in teaching. Marilyn was incredibly spiritual and actively involved in her church, Christ Community Fellowship, as well as the ladies' Bible study group. She made her walk to Emmaus and was active in the 4th group for many years with friends.
Marilyn chaperoned the Walla Walla fair court for two years, served as co-parade marshal with her husband, Ronnie, in 2015, and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter FT, where she held the position of president from 2012 to 2014. She loved riding horses as a young adult, belonging to the Blue Mountain Riders & Wagonettes, and serving as their president. She volunteered at Friends of Walla Walla, mentoring young Sammy Fowler for several years, and was still in contact with her. She also volunteered at Samaritan's Purse and Carnegie Art Center, was a Carnegie Docent serving two years as president, and others. She loved winters in Arizona, where she enjoyed crafts and games with the many new friends she met there. She enjoyed camping with friends and family, especially playing cards with them. She also enjoyed traveling abroad, visiting nine different countries and liked Poland the best. When she was younger, she enjoyed snowmobiling with friends in the Blues, Yellowstone, and Payette Lake. She was an avid reader and liked golfing.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Ron; son, Bryan Miller; and brother, Robert Biersner. She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother, Raymond Biersner. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and will live forever in our hearts.
