Marilyn Elizabeth Lyons

Marilyn Lyons passed away on March 24, 2014, surrounded by her family at Providence St Mary’s Medical Center in Walla Walla, WA.

Marilyn was born January 7 th , 1921 in Richland Center, Wisconsin to Dimitt and Zelda Clark. Her family moved to Montana, where she later graduated from Broadwater County High School. Marilyn met Bill Lyons while he was working in Montana. They married in Helena in 1941 and moved to Seattle.

In 1943, they returned to Walla Walla for Bill to work on the family farm. Marilyn and Bill settled and raised their family here. Their family became members of St Patrick’s Parish and she, a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

We celebrated many birthdays, anniversaries and get-togethers throughout the years. Marilyn particularly enjoyed the visits with the ‘Montana Gang’ (which usually included lively games of pinochle).

She is survived at home by her husband, Bill, of 73yrs and her family: Leo, Tim (Geri) & Family, Kay Crispin, Judy (Mel) Talbot & Family, Jerome (Teri) & Family, Linda Lyons (Ron Schmitt), Louis & Family, Teresa Nebeker (John Benedict) & Family, Stan (Kara) & Family, Brian Lyons (Harry Deuber), and the Mulligan grandchildren.

She is also survived by: sister-in-law Gloria Henry & Family, the children & Families of Gwen Blacker, Bud Clark, and Gena Davies. Sister-in-laws: Rita Van Cleve & Family, Mary Coan & Family, Sr. Denise Lyons, Monica Lyons, Janet Lyons & Family, Jackie Lyons & Family, and brother-in-law, Lee Stone & Family.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother; brothers, Les and Bud; sisters, Gwen & Gena; and daughter, Patricia Mulligan.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Friday, March 28, 2014 from 2:00 PM until after the rosary at the Herring Funeral Home. The Rosary will be held Friday March 28, 2014 at 7:00 pm at the Herring Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at St Patrick Catholic Church; interment immediately following at Mountain View Cemetery, Walla Walla. Luncheon will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the William and Marilyn Lyons Memorial Scholarship Fund at Walla Walla Catholic Schools, through Herring Funeral Home, 315 W Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.

Lastly, we especially want to thank her long-time caregivers: Connie, Maribel, and Leticia, also, Linda, her visiting nurse. They were the ‘lifeline’ for Marilyn and her family, which greatly contributed to Marilyn’s quality of life.
