Marilyn Lucile Kentch

March 6, 1930 — December 12, 2022

Walla Walla

Marilyn Lucile Kentch of Touchet, WA passed at Providence St. Mary Medical Center on December 12, 2022, at the age of 92 after a brief illness.

Marilyn was born in Walla Walla, on March 6, 1930, and spent her whole life here in the Walla Walla Valley. She graduated high school and went on to marry the love of her life, William Kentch of Milton Freewater, OR. They were married 58 years, until Bill passed away in June 2008.

Marilyn was an active member of the Touchet Community Homemakers, Touchet Church, and a 4-H Leader for many years. She loved the Lord, our Savior Jesus Christ, first and foremost. She was a very godly woman and was an example to her daughters-in-law, granddaughters, and all those around her, as to how a godly woman should live.  She adored her grandchildren and loved having them over to her home. Learning to play cards and board games with Grandma Kentch was a favorite memory shared by all of her grandkids. She would never let them win, as she always commented that they had to “earn” the win.

She is survived by three living sons, Merwin and his wife, Vicki; Roger, his wife, Debbie; Louis, his wife, Marci; as well as seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Karen Elaine; her son, David Leon; husband, William Orval Kentch; and brother, Wilburn “Wib" Sutherland.  She will be sorely missed by those who love her.

There will be a viewing at Herring-Groseclose Funeral Home, Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 4-6 pm and a private graveside service for immediate family on Friday. A memorial will be held in Touchet, WA, in the spring when we can gather safely and comfortably to honor her.

Marilyn had a special place in her heart for the Ronald McDonald House of Western Washington & Alaska, and Seattle Children’s Hospital.  And so, in lieu of flowers, donations to these charities would truly honor her memory. Memorial contributions may be made through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362. In addition, friends and family are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.herringgroseclose.com.
