Marie H. Turnbow, 82, passed away at home surrounded by family on April 2, 2012.

Marie was born on October 27, 1929 in Gleichen, Alberta, Canada to Melvin & Helen (Sache) Short. The family moved to Chilliwack, BC, Canada in 1944 where Marie attended high school. Following graduation, she worked in a local dry cleaning establishment but before too long, her adventuresome nature took her to Vancouver, BC for work. In Vancouver, she met Tom, the handsome sailor from Walla Walla, who became the love of her life. They married in 1952 in Bellingham, while Tom was stationed on Whidbey Island. They moved to Walla Walla in 1954, where they raised two daughters.

Marie is survived by her husband, Tom, at the home; daughters, Sherry Turnbow-Ruzicka (Gerry) and Sandy Turnbow (David Hair) both of Walla Walla; sisters, Mona (Vern) Bradwell, Donna Logan and brother, Jack (Audrey) Short, all of Chilliwack, BC, Canada; granddaughters, Brooke Turnbow of Walla Walla & Courtney (Pete) Liligard of Hermiston, OR; great grandson, Colt Liligard of Hermiston, OR and numerous nieces & nephews in Canada. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin & Helen Short.

All of Canadian family has wonderful memories of their many visits with Marie and her family in Walla Walla, waterskiing, horseback riding and picnics at the river. Amongst other things, Marie loved the outdoors, fishing, camping and yearly trips mushroom hunting with family & friends.

At her request, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Walla Walla Community Hospice or the Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
