Maria Elena Sanchez

Maria E Sanchez passed away quietly with her family by her side on Thursday, July 13, 2023.

She was born on August 11, 1943, to D. Tomas and Josefina Torres.

Maria married Pedro G Sanchez in 1959 in Weiser, ID. They relocated to Walla Walla, WA, in 1961. Pedro and Maria have six beautiful children that they raised in Walla Walla.

Maria worked at Roger's cannery for over 25 years and made many long-time friends there.

Maria met the love of her life at the movie theater in Weiser, ID, and they were inseparable for the rest of their lives together. The two of them enjoyed spending time with family and friends. They also enjoyed casinos, where Maria always had good luck.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents, D. Tomas Torres and Josefina Torres, and several brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She is survived by her spouse, Pedro; her children and their spouses, Robert and Leticia Sanchez, Olga and Jeff Dyer, Maria Sanchez, Linda and Phil Jones, Delia Sanchez, Pedro (Pete) and Kim Sanchez; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; her brothers, Juan Torres (Bonnie), Oscar Torres (Carol), Jesse Torres (Mary), and Ricardo Torres along with many nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 6:00 PM, at the Chapel of the Herring Funeral Home with Monesa Grant officiating. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father Dale Tuckerman celebrating. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
