Margaret Fanciullo, longtime Walla
Walla resident, passed away on Jan. 13,
2016, at Providence St. Mary Medical
Center. She was 92.
Margaret was born in Bloomington, Ill., on June 18,
1924, to Lillian and Henry T. Hiller. Henry died in
1934, and Lillian remarried as Lillian Ennis. She
died in 1959. Margaret had one sibling, Mary Agnes
Knell.
Margaret and her family moved to Pomeroy
where her family farmed for several years. She and
her family later moved to Walla Walla, where she attended
St. Vincent’s Academy.
On May 21, 1949, Margaret married Art James Fanciullo.
On Dec. 26, 1949, Margaret gave birth to their
daughter, Margie Fanciullo Douglas. Art passed away
on Aug. 11, 1995. Margaret was an impeccable wife
and mother who assisted Art with the family farm.
Later in life, Margaret worked outside of the home,
first for Whitman College then Walla Walla Produce.
She ended her career after 31 years of service at
Country Companies Financial, retiring in 2014.
She
also loved assisting her daughter Margie with classroom
projects and children in need. They adopted a
family each Christmas to give to those less fortunate.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Margie Douglas;
and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, Jan.
22, 2016, from 4 – 6 p.m., followed by the recitation
of the Rosary by Sister Helen Mason at 6 p.m. Funeral
services will be held at St. Patrick’s Church on
Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at 11 a.m., officiated by Father
David Gaines. Interment will follow at the Blue
Mountain Memorial Gardens, College Place.
