Malcolm (Mack) Thomas Bohlman

Malcolm (Mack) Thomas Bohlman passed away at the age of 89 on January 16, 2024, at the home of his granddaughter in Walla Walla, Washington.

Mack is survived by his wife, Vi Bohlman; his children, Pat Weir (Cindy Weir), Mary Cortinas (Dwayne Fitzsimmons),Tom Weir (Robin Harpe), Chris Bohlman (Amy Bohlman) and Mack Bohlman (Tina Dunn); his collected children, Mike Cortinas (Kim Franklin) and Guello Peña; his grandchildren, Cia Cortinas, Breann Weir, Ryan Cortinas, Eric Weir, Andrew Bohlman, Evan Bohlman and Rob Teichroeb; his brother, Ed Bohlman and his three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luella and Edward Bohlman.

Mack was born in South Bend Indiana on August 16, 1934. His family moved and homesteaded in Bonners Ferry in 1947. He graduated from the University of Idaho in civil engineering in 1965. He worked for the Corps of Engineers from 1965 until he retired in 1988. Mack loved to run long distances. He was a member of the Walla Walla Road Runners. He ran ultra marathons and over 200 marathons. He loved animals, especially all of his grand dogs, great-grand dogs and cats.

Mack exuded a natural and authentic charm that endeared him to a broad spectrum of friends. This vibrant social circle encompassed individuals of varying ages, cultures, and backgrounds, reflecting the richness and diversity of his connections. He made everyone who met him feel like family and was “Papa” to many.

While he was often a man of few words, when he did speak, it was genuine, true and from the heart. Mack loved supporting others and was always ready and willing to lend a helping hand.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, January 26, 2024, from 3pm-7pm, at the Border Tavern, 604 W Elm St, Walla Walla. Viewing and Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 1pm-5pm, at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla.
