Mabelle Lillian Andersen

Mabelle Lillian (Rogers) Andersen was born 17 August 1916, on her parents’ farm 12 miles south of New Leipzig in Loren Township, Grant County, N.D. Her parents were Robert H. Rogers and Agnes H. Lueck. Mabelle passed away in Walla Walla on 15 March 2014, ending her earthly journey of 97 years 6 months and 28 days.

She married Leslie R. Andersen on Nov. 25, 1934, in Grant County, N.D., at the home of her sister, Florence and brother-in-law, Gail Weatherly. The couple lived in Leith, Grant County, N.D. Mabelle was an excellent homemaker, wife and mother. She was self-taught and played piano by ear. Often the children would gather around as she played, and everyone would sing along. Dancing, music and family gatherings were among her favorite things. She was a long-time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Walla Walla. Her faith was always evident, and she loved Our Lord. Now her spirit is commended to God. Believing that she will find peace and joy in eternal life with Jesus, we who survive lovingly bless her new journey.

Mabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Ronald Andersen; son, Rodney Roger Andersen; son, Lyle Ray Andersen; granddaughter, Benita Susan (Razey) Kilbane. Surviving her are daughters, Bonita E. Zeller, Maizie L. Razey (Bernard); daughter-in-law, Elsie M. Andersen; sons, Lee T. Andersen (Elaine), and Ross A. Andersen (Carol); and 16 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. Services will be held at Herring Funeral Home, 11 a.m., Saturday, 22 March 2014, with Rev. Mark Koonz of Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will be at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens, College Place. Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Walla Walla Community Hospice or American Cancer Society through Herring Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
