Lynne G. Masters (Grossman)

January 16, 1952 — December 22, 2011

Lynne G. Masters, 59, passed away at her home in Walla Walla on December 22, 2011, with her husband and daughters at her side.

Lynne was born January 16, 1952, in New York, NY. She was raised in Westchester County New York, and in Pennsylvania, by her parents, Donald Jackson Masters and Mary Lee Masters, both of whom preceded Lynne in death. Also preceding her in death was her older brother, Donald J. Masters, in 2009.

After graduating from Bronxville (NY) High School, Lynne moved to Boston. She attended Boston University and then the University of Massachusetts at Boston, earning a BA degree in English with highest honors in 1978. Lynne enrolled at Suffolk University Law School in 1980. She received her JD degree with honors in 1983. While a student at Suffolk, Lynne met David S. Grossman, who became her husband. Following graduation from Suffolk, Lynne and David moved to Arlington, Virginia, and Lynne took a position as an attorney advisor with the Market Regulation Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Lynne and David were married in Washington, DC in April, 1984. Their daughter, Kelsey Elizabeth Grossman was born in May, 1988. In December, 1988, Lynne, David and Kelsey moved to Seattle, Washington, where Lynne worked first for a law firm focusing on banking law and then for the City of Seattle in its Department of Information Technology, where she worked as Cable Franchise Administrator. Erika Leigh Grossman, was born to Lynne and David in January, 1998. In 2002, Lynne and her family moved to Walla Walla, where Lynne opened a law practice focused on advising municipalities on cable television franchise issues. She retired from active practice in 2007.

Lynne had an infectious personality and the ability to become friends with everyone she encountered. She enjoyed power walking, swimming and bicycling when living in Washington, DC and the Seattle area. She also enjoyed camping with her family and travel, with trips to Michigan to visit David’s family, and to Mexico and Hawaii. Her most recent passion was motorcycling, traveling with David and sometimes Erika to motorcycle events in the Northwest. She especially enjoyed getting together with the many friends she made motorcycling.

Lynne is survived by her sister Lee (Masters) Eichert, of Orofino, ID, husband David Grossman of Walla Walla, daughter Kelsey Grossman of Seattle, and daughter Erika Grossman of Walla Walla, as well as nephews Noah Masters, of New York City, Tom Eichert of Lake Stevens, WA, and niece Katie (Eichert) Butler, of Boise, ID.

A memorial service in honor of Lynne's life will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, in Walla Walla, on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at 1:00 pm, with reception to follow at the Church’s Campbell Hall. Private family interment will be at a later date.
