Lyla Mae Hernandez

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Lyla Mae Hernandez (Lambert), on June 14, 2022.

Lyla was born on January 3, 1957, in Jackson, OH, to Anna and Fred Lambert. She is the 9th of 11 children, which include eight sisters and two brothers. She was raised in Prescott and Walla Walla. At the time of her death, she lived in Milton Freewater with her husband of 17 years, Antonio Hernandez.

She was employed by Regency Care Center for close to 20 years, spent several years working for the Cigarette Store and most recently ResCare until being diagnosed with throat cancer and subsequently breast cancer.

Lyla enjoyed playing Yahtzee and Rummy with her family. She loved spending time at the park and going to yard sales. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Anna Marie and Fred Harris Lambert, and sister Shirley Ann Jensen.

She is survived by her children: Robert (Stacie) Lambert, Argentina (David) Martinez, Kristina Lambert, Hector Martinez, Angel (Reginald) Byrd, Ranee Phillips, and Fanny Ali-Reyes; several grandchildren: Robert Jr., Jacob, Nicole, Isaiah, Scully, Madison, Edgar, Niomie, David Jr., Jeremy, Lucas, Camila, Anamarie, Adam Jr., Aaliyah, Arianna, Alondra, Reginald Jr., Adalyn and great-grandchildren: Zoey, Anora, Daniel Jr., Olivia, Reece, Lucious, and Ivory. She is also survived by her husband, Antonio Hernandez; siblings: Dorothy Bullock, Frederick Lambert, Reva Jones, Mary Lambert, Paul Lambert, Debbie Lambert, Margaret Verdugo, Patricia Rodriguez, and Bambi Guardado, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 PM on July 10, 2022, at the Garden Center at Pioneer Park, 940 E Alder St, Walla Walla.
