Listen to Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Aunt, Lucille Wonona Foust, at the age of 91. Lucille peacefully passed away at her home on June 02, 2026, due to complications of Alzheimer’s.

Lucille was born on September 06, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan, to Albert Otto and Melissa May Binschus. Lucille was the 9th child of their ten children. Lucille went on to attend school, but only got as far as the 7th grade because they moved frequently due to Otto’s occupation as a coal miner.

For a short time in her early 20s, Lucille modeled for Kodak film.

At the age of 25, she married Don Schroeder and had her first son, Russell Lester, in East Cleveland, Ohio. She and Don later divorced.

After finding Ohio was not for her, she moved to Baker, OR, to be near her Mom. She and her youngest sister, Levetia, began traveling to Walla Walla to work at Roger’s Cannery, where she worked on the seamers. It is here she met Harry Kinsfather, who was a mechanic at the Cannery. They married in 1963 and went on to have two daughters, Linda May and Teresa Wonona. They later divorced in 1970.

While still in Walla Walla, she opened a restaurant with her sister, Lillian, called Becks Cafe. Lucille and her sister worked well together, and it is here that she met Homer Foust. Lucille made all of the homemade pies, and Homer fell in love with the pies & Lucille. They married in Irrigon, Oregon, in 1973. They would go on to have two children, Nancy Kay and Gary Leon. They were married until Homer’s death in 1980.

After Homer’s death, Lucille now assumed the role of Mother and Father for all five of her children and did it with grace. Lucille was a wonderful cook, and back in the day, loved fishing, rockhounding, mushroom hunting, bowling, and always listening to old country music. She also loved loading up the children in her motor home and traveling. She drove that 26ft motor home to see family in Michigan, her oldest sister, Helen, in CA, and her sister and brothers in Concrete and Anacortes, WA.

Above everything, Lucille enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren. She was proud of each and every one of them.

Lucille was preceded in death by her parents, all nine siblings, her husband, Homer, and her son-in-law, Bob Greene.

Lucille is survived by her children: Russell Kinsfather, Linda Waldron (Sam), Teresa Greene, Nancy Foust-Phillips(Gary), Gary Foust (Caressa); eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We would like to personally thank Jolene Phillips for her love and care for our Mother over the last few years. She was not only a friend to our Mom but also family.

We also want to thank Linda Towslee with Hospice. She graciously came in with loving care and kindness. Bless you, Linda.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at Blue Mountain Memorial Gardens for family members. A Celebration of Life potluck will be held immediately after at Linda and Sam Waldron’s home from 1-5 pm, 329 East Langdon Rd, Walla Walla, WA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St, Walla Walla, WA 99362. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.herringgroseclose.com.
