Lucille E Erickson

September 14, 1932 — October 9, 2015

Lucille E. Erickson, 83, of Wallula, formerly of Bowman, N.D., passed away on Friday evening, Oct. 9, 2015, at her home. Lucille was born on Sept. 14, 1932, to Joyce and Marie (Smolnikar) Ward. She was raised and attended grade school in Haley, N.D. Lucille graduated from Bowman High School.

Lucille was united in marriage to Marion Erickson on Feb. 1, 1951. They lived in Gascoyne, N.D., until 1961, when they moved to Ludlow, S.D. In 1965, she loved

to Bowman, as the children would attend school during the week and they would all go to the country on the weekends. Through the years other country students stayed with them to go to high school. Lucille was a worker. She worked different jobs through the years and then bought the World of Flowers. In 1990, she sold the shop and she and Marion moved to Paulsbo, Wash. Lucille worked for a flower shop and then Safeway. When she and Marion retired they moved to Wallula.

Lucille will be remembered for her awesome baking. Her pies, cakes, deserts and cinnamon rolls were requested repeatedly by anyone who had enjoyed them.

The grandchildren loved grandma’s treats. Her love of flowers showed in her gardens. Her green thumb could grow about anything. Lucille had a sense of humor, loved a good practical joke and she was an instigator of a few. She loved being grandma and spending time with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed by her husband, Marion; sons, Dan (Jo) Erickson and Roger Erickson; daughters, Sandy (Duane) Steckler and Cindy Erickson; grandchildren, Sarah Erickson, Sean (Hollie) Erickson and Kelsey Erickson; great-grandchildren, Miles Erickson, Jordan, Keegan, Kason and Kamryn Erickson; sister, Della (Clayton) Wallman, brother, Ernie (Sheri) Ward; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Joyce; her mother, Marie; brother, Ed (Joanne) Ward.
