Louise Aliverti

March 7, 1913 — February 19, 2013

Louise Aliverti, a Walla Walla resident from her birth March 7, 1913 until 2004 when she moved to the Seattle area to be nearer to her children and grandchildren, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013.

Louise and her late husband Ambrose (Babe) farmed the land on which Walla Walla General Hospital now sits until 1960. When they retired from farming, Louise went to work for Walla Walla Produce where she remained until she retired in 1978. The following years were spent tending her beautiful garden at her home on Bryant and volunteering at the Walla Walla Senior Center. Her garden, which she maintained until her move to Seattle when she was 90, looked like a beautiful park. She had a special touch with her roses and no visitor during the summer months left without a lovely bouquet to take home.

During her long retirement years, Louise enjoyed traveling with family to Europe, Asia, and Hawaii, Alaska and quite widely in the continental United States visiting her children and grandchildren in various parts of the county. When in Europe, she particularly loved her visit to the Lakes region of Northern Italy where her parents had been born and lived until they immigrated to the US and settled in Walla Walla.

Louise is survived by her son Robert and his wife Dana, daughter in law Shirley Aliverti, brother, Ambrose Ponti, grandchildren Jann Aliverti, Leslie Jones (Ted), Gina Thorvilson (Rick), Bob Aliverti (Alison), Brent Aliverti (Anne), six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Ambrose, her son Edward, her sisters Linda Aliverti, MadelineTalarico, Rose Pesciallo and brother John Ponti.

Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday March 1, 2013 at the Herring Funeral Home Chapel, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The graveside service will be at 11:00 am at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice through the funeral home.
