Louis A Blundell

February 27, 1932 — February 10, 2022

Walla Walla

Louis (Lou) Andrew Blundell, a resident of Golden West Estates, Walla Walla, Washington, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2022, at Walla Walla Veteran’s Home. Lou was born on February 27, 1932, in Sterling, Virginia, to Joseph and Addie Blundell.  He had 3 siblings Elsie, George, and Mary who all preceded him in death.

Lou and the love of his life Shirley Blundell moved to Walla Walla, WA, in 2016. His home in Walla Walla quickly became his most favorite place he had ever lived. You knew when Lou was happy and content, as he would hum. His humming was continual upon moving to Walla Walla. He stated to his wife on a frequent basis; “I love this place more than you do”.

From April 1950 to February 1954, Lou served in the United States Navy, earning US Navy E6 - Navy - Petty Officer, First Class status. Lou’s service medals include National Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, China Service Medal, United Nations Services Medal, and Korean Service Medal. He later went on to earn his bachelor’s degree.

On October 11, 1978, Lou and Shirley began their 43-year marriage. They were inseparable and enjoyed traveling, working together in real estate and their two cats Tinker and Dixie. They retired out of Southern California to La Luz, New Mexico. He worked for Honeywell as an Instrumentation Technician. He later moved on to real estate as a Real Estate Broker and worked along-side his wife in that business until their retirement in 1992.

Lou loved his bible and would read it daily. He enjoyed his 4 acres in NM and would work many hours each day improving the park like grounds he created there. He later spent hours in his small yard in Walla Walla. Lou was a jokester with many one-liners to keep all laughing and wondering what he would come up with next. He was a gentle and kind man; but being that he had a funny side he had many nick names given to him over his lifetime. They include, Honey, Papa Turkey, G-pa, TBL, George, Aunt Woo, Uncle Lunis, and Uncle Toot.

Lou is survived by his loving wife Shirley, his two children, Duane (Lisa) Jones and Terri (Ron) Coffell, his four grandsons, Duane Jones, Nicholas Jones, Elijah Jones, and Rysom Coffell. One granddaughter Emily (Coffell) Small, 5 great grandchildren, Natalie Jones, Georgia Small, Mamie Small, Hatley Small and Oliver Jones. And numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services with military honors, will be held on March 5, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., at the Mountain View Cemetery, Garden Mausoleum 2120 S. 2nd Ave., Walla Walla, WA 99362
