Loretta Jean Gregerson

August 26, 1936 — July 8, 2013

Loretta Jean Gregerson, wife, mom, sister, grandma and friend to many, passed away on July 8, 2013, due to complications of pulmonary fibrosis. She died peacefully, at home, surrounded by family.

Jean was born August 26, 1936 in Maple Hill, Kansas to Henry William “Pat” Patton, Sr., and Edna Mae Patton. The family moved from Kansas to Yakima, Washington in 1938 and to Walla Walla in 1941. On August 11, 1940, the family was blessed with the arrival of Jean’s brother, Henry William Patton Jr.

Jean met Billy Gene Gregerson at the Star Skating Rink in March of 1954 and they were married on August 7, 1954. On February 15, 1956 their daughter, Georgie Mae was born. As a teenager, Jean was a car hop at the Triple X Drive Inn, an usher at local theaters, and after her marriage, worked in retail and started Gregerson’s Industrial Cleaning with Bill.

Jean coached Georgie on the LDS church softball team, loved fishing, watching the Mariners and Seahawks on TV, traveling and being outdoors. She also enjoyed watching her granddaughters participate in various sports, especially softball, and was even team scorekeeper.

Jean is survived by brother, Bill Patton (Patti); daughter, Georgie Brotherton (Mark); granddaughters, Brandi Tabor (Mike), Brooke Brotherton (Sloan Prutsman); great grandchildren, Jourdan, Justyce, Jonah, Breden, Peyton, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents “Pat” and Edna, and her husband Bill.

A celebration of life, officiated by Bishop Robert Grandstaff will be Friday, July 12, 2013 at 1 pm at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1821 S. 2nd. Graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery will follow. Memorial contributions may be made to
Walla Walla Community Hospice through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
