Loren Arthur Carson

Loren was born 24 Oct 1932 in Dayton, Washington, the son of Art and Ina (Crawford) Carson.

He obtained his education in the Dayton school system. He participated in boxing and was quarterback on the football team, at Dayton high school. In his senior year he was student body president. While in high school he joined the Navy Reserves.

After high school he went to college at Ellensburg and Pacific Northwest College (Now Lewis & Clark) in Lewiston, Idaho. The Korean war broke out and the Navy called. He was sent to two different schools, to be an electronic technician in the Navy Air. (The schools were located in Jacksonville, Florida and Memphis Tennessee.) After finishing his training, he reported to Naval Air Station at Whidbey Island in Washington. After he finished the service he returned home and went to WSC to finish his education and received his diploma as a landscape architect.

He married Elizabeth "Liz" Hatfield 15 Sept 1957 in Dayton.

He worked for Oregon State Highway Department for a year. Then he worked for many years for Boise Cascade Corp. as a draftsman. While he was with them he received 4 different certificates in industrial engineering. He flew all over the U.S. and Canada where the company had their mills and was muchly respected throughout the industry for his innovations and inventions.

He also worked as assistant engineer for Columbia Co. for 8 years. When his son graduated from high school he went back to work for Boise Cascade until he retired. After his retirement he moved back to his home town and has lived here ever since. He loved the outdoors, fishing and looking for arrow heads napping. Loren enjoyed artwork. He loved to drawing and sculpturing. He cast sculptures into bronze and other metals. He loved all things western. His nickname was "Kit" Ironically; he was a distant cousin to Kit Carson.

He leaves his wife, Liz. His son Kevin (Jann) of Troy, Idaho. A grandson George Carson of Long Beach, California. 5 nieces and 2 nephews. Art Elder of Dayton and Jan (Elder) Baker of Walla Walla live in the area and the others live in the Spokane and Seattle area.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Ina Carson, a sister, Vera Jean Elder, a brother Delmar Carson.

Per his request there will no funeral service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dayton High School alumni and Palus Museum in Dayton through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to sign the online guest book at www.herringgroseclose.com.
