Linda Rae Gustin

Linda Rae Gustin passed away on July 27, 2022, after battling brain cancer. Linda Rae Schuening was born August 3, 1943, in Pendleton, Oregon, to the parents of Roy and Rosemary (Hudemann) Schuening. She was the second child, followed by four more siblings. She attended Hawthorne grade school, Helen McCune Jr. high, and graduated from Pendleton High School in 1961.

After graduating, she attended Phagans Beauty school to pursue a career as a beautician that spanned over 50 years in the Pendleton area.
In 1964 she married Ray Thompson and had three children, Lori, Lana & Rick, later divorcing in 1980. On February 13, 1989, she married Paul “Gus” Gustin in Lake Tahoe, NV, and celebrated 22 years of marriage before his passing in 2011.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She is survived by her children, Lori Yokom (Ken), Lana Kline (Doug), and Rick Thompson (Mandy); grandchildren, Jamie Sawyer, Lisa Smith, Kori Hibbard, John Kline, Hailey Kline, Maeve Thompson, and Hank Thompson; and seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Rosanne Goade (Lynn), Robert Schuening (Irene), Marla Duffield (Brian), Judy Schuening, and Ron Schuening (Wendi); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family wanted to especially thank her hospice care team RN Susan and CNA Katie from Walla Walla Community Hospice, who provided excellent care for Linda.

Her celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 10:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, Pendleton, Oregon, Walla Walla Community Hospice, and Walla Walla Senior Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA 99362.
