Lillian Mary Paietta, 97, died October 18, 2018 in Kirkland, WA.

Lillian was born August 13, 1921 in Rochester, New York to Caroline Bowman and Frank Timmons.  She lived in Walla Walla for over 60 years before moving to Redmond, WA to live near her daughter Beth.

Lillian was orphaned at an early age and lived with foster families until she was 18.  After graduating, she moved to Buffalo to study and work with an aunt at St. Mary’s School.  In 1940, she moved to Syracuse to attend business school.  Later, she worked for the Corps of Engineers before enlisting in the Coast Guard.  Lillian talked with pride about her military service during World War II.  She was honorably discharged in 1946.  After the war, she returned to the Corp of Engineers and eventually decided to transfer to Walla Walla.

On December 26, 1953, she married Charlie Paietta in Walla Walla.  They worked side by side as vegetable farmers for many years.   After retiring from farming in 1987, she and Charlie devoted their days to volunteering for local organizations.  Lillian was actively involved in St. Vincent de Paul where she was in charge of the toy department for many years.  She was also a member of other organizations including Catholic Daughters of America, Altar Society of St. Francis Parish, and Retired Senior Volunteer Program.  She enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, listening to music and reading especially mysteries.

She is survived by her daughter Beth (John) Daynes of Redmond, WA; a son, John (Judy) Paietta of Beavercreek, Ohio; Jean of Milton, Vermont; 5 grandchildren: Gina (Peter) Dixon, Rachel Paietta, Elise Paietta, Taylor (Michelle) Daynes, and Nathan (Amy) Daynes, a great- grandchild Poppy and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Charlie, daughter Ann and six brothers and sisters.
