Surrounded by her family at home, Lila
Lorene Paffile, age 80, was taken home
by her Lord Jesus on March 18, 2015.
Lila was born in Argonia, Kan., on June 16, 1934,
to Owen L. and Myrtle (Corrine) Fowler Raine. She
moved to Priest Lake, Idaho, with her family as a
small child. She worked as a nanny while attending
Lewis & Clark High School in Spokane, graduating
in 1952.
While working for Boise Cascade in Boise, Idaho,
Lila met Clifford Paffile and they were married Dec.
2, 1967. She enjoyed hunting, camping, motorcycle
riding, attending Bible study fellowship and bowling
while living in Boise. In 1977, Cliff took a management
position with Les Schwab Tires and the family
relocated to John Day, Ore. There she rekindled
an interest in riding horses, something she had loved
while growing up in Priest Lake. Lila bowled in the
local bowling league, tutored reading at the elementary
school and became a 4-H horse leader.
In 1982, the family transferred a last time to Walla
Walla. In the early 1990s, Cliff and Lila purchased
Valley Floors. He laid and refinished hardwood floors
and she did the business bookkeeping. She and husband,
Cliff, established Spring Branch Quarter horses.
They raised registered Quarterhorses and more
recently, Lila, began breeding and raising low line
cattle on her acreage just south of town. She was a
member of the NW Quarterhorse Association, helped
plan and run the annual local Quarterhorse show
and served as its president for several years. She traveled
in recent years, including two trips back to her
birth state, Kansas, and a 21-day sight-seeing excursion
through eight states with two granddaughters.
She enjoyed her horses and attending training clinics,
bird watching, her flower gardens, taking photos and
attending Bible study, but she was most passionate
about her family. She was a loving and selfless wife,
mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Lila
could be heard cheering on her granddaughters during
their sporting events and rarely missed a game or
activity. She enjoyed visiting extended family and attending
family weddings and graduations. Lila loved
Jesus and was a woman with tremendous unwavering
faith.
She is survived by sister, Wynona Warren; and
brother, Austin Raine both of Priest Lake; daughter,
Tiffany Swift of Las Cruces; sons, George Swift and
wife Mary of Dillingham and Clint Paffile of Walla
Walla; daughter, Tonya and husband Frank Lyons of
Walla Walla; step-daughter, Terri Paffile of Phoenix;
step-son, Mark Paffile and wife Ronda of Boise; and
step-daughter, Lori and husband Rod Short of Boise;
grandchildren, Dustin McIntier, Allen and Shannon
Swift, Drake Gibson, Jessica Purchase, Samantha
Paffile, Damien Short, Sierrna Berg, Ashlyn, Allesyn
and Lauryn Lyons; and 10 great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and
two grandsons, George Swift and Travis McIntier.

24, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Blue Mountain Memorial
Gardens Cemetery, 300 S.E. Myra Road, College
