Lila Lee Owsley

Walla Walla

Lila Lee Owsley, 90, of Walla Walla, passed away
peacefully on Aug. 11, 2016, at her home. She was
born Feb. 24, 1926, to Leslie Sevey and Emma Eliason
Sevey. She was born and raised in Hagerman, Idaho,
where she attended grade school and graduated from
high school. On Sept. 1, 1944, she married her high
school sweetheart, Carl Owsley in Madison, Wis. She
moved to Walla Walla with her family in 1957. She attended
business college before going to work at Stone
Machinery, and then as a claims rep at the Social Security
office where she worked until retirement.
She is survived by her one daughter, Carla Phillips;
one son, Gary (Sue) Owsley both of Walla Walla; four
grandchildren, Darrin Phillips (Lisa) of Salem, Ore.,
Debbie (Don) Mooney, Mindy (Craig) Nelson and
Megan (Chris) Long all of Walla Walla; nine greatgrandchildren;
one sister-in-law, Coralee Owsley of
Federal Way, WA.; as well as numerous nieces and
nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents,
her husband; and one son-in-law, Melvin Phillips.
At her request, there will be no memorial service.
Private family internment will be at Blue Mountain
Memorial Gardens, Garden of Peace. A celebration of
her life will follow at a later date. Memorial contributions
may be made to the Walla Walla Community
College Rodeo program or to a charity of your choice
through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315
W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
