Lenora Frances Hermann

Lenora Frances “Shorty” Hermann was born in Bedford, Iowa, Dec. 16, 1935. She was the second of five daughters to Luella and Lester Gray. As a young girl Lenora lived in Colfax, Wash., and Pomeroy and finished high school in Walla Walla. After high school Lenora married Walter Peter “Pete” Hermann and raised seven children, living in Walla Walla until she passed away Sept. 25, 2014.

Lenora will be remembered as a caring person who always put others first. She gave her heart and time to her family and as a volunteer to many groups in the community: Catholic Daughters, Fort Walla Walla Museum, Red Cross, Providence St. Mary Medical Center, and the Walla Walla Senior Center. Her career as an office manager and bookkeeper for many local auto dealers lasted over 40 years.

In her youth Lenora was enamored with ice skating. As she raised her family she loved to take them camping and fishing. Her adventures matured into frequent vacations, traveling throughout the country and as far as Germany and the Panama Canal with Pete. When at home she relaxed by spending time on her back porch enjoying her garden and reading a novel.

Lenora was preceded by a son-in-law, Robert “Smokey” Stiles; and daughter-in-law, Linda Hermann. She is survived by her sons, Patrick, Michael, Raymond, Rick and Randy; her daughters, Peggy and Pamela; and 14 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Lenora’s life culminated as a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who wholly and completely loved her family.

The Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at 6:00 PM at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Memorial Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Assumption Catholic Church with Father Brian Sattler, Celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary Regional Cancer Center or the American Red Cross through the funeral home.
