Lee Johnson

May 13, 1942 — June 20, 2024

Walla Walla

Lee was born May 13, 1942, in Walla Walla, Washington, to Eva Mae McEvoy Johnson and R.V. Johnson and passed away on June 20, 2024, at the age of 82. She graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1960 and Moler Barber College in Portland, Oregon. Lee was a lifelong licensed master barber in both Washington and Oregon and owned Walla Walla Hair Design for a number of years before becoming a corrections officer for the Washington State Department of Corrections at the Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla in 1985 and retired in 2010.

During her retirement, Lee especially liked working on her home and always had goals to strive for and look forward to. She believed it was always better to be able to have a goal for the day to follow than to choose to take the day off. But most important was her relationship with the Lord, depending on Him in all things. This relationship began when she was a young girl whose mother took the family to church. “We all have a beginning and an end, and the time in between tells the story of each of us.”

Lee is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Clarence McEvoy and Elizabeth Landus McEvoy and J.W. Johnson and Minnie Mae Bailey Johnson; sisters, Judy Johnson Helfer and Janice Johnson Weber; and brothers, Gary Johnson and Scott Johnson. She is survived by her sons, Todd Engerbretson of Walla Walla, WA and Ryan Engerbretson of Fargo, ND; five grandchildren: Kati of Walla Walla, Emily, Jordan, Katharine, and Gabrielle of Fargo, ND; and numerous nieces and nephews.
