Lawrence (Larry) Edwin Roof Jr. passed away on February 21, 2023, with family at his side after a short hospital stay. Larry was born April 26, 1935, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, to Ed and Bonnie Roof.
Larry grew up in Leavittsburg, Ohio, where he met and married Jacquelyn (Jackie) Walters in 1956. They had four children before moving the family to Butte, Montana.
Larry loved the mountains and all that they had to offer. Larry was a true outdoorsman from fishing, hunting, trapping, and exploring. He was involved in Hunters Safety and Trout Unlimited. As a salesman, he moved from state to state and finally settled in San Francisco, where he spent the last half of his life. Upon the death of his wife, Jackie, he moved to Walla Walla.
Larry left behind four children, Frank, Terri, Vicki, and Kim, and a daughter of choice, Sherri Welch. Larry has seven grandchildren, Carissa (Ian), TJ (Gina), Bonnie, Jessi (Jose), Jacquelyn, Connor, and Sophi (Bronson); eleven great-grandchildren, Amanda, Peyton, Evan, Samantha, Juliet, Lily, Hazel, Noah, Kaileigh, Pierce and Logan.
Larry will be missed by family and friends. There will be no services at this time. Instead, Larry’s ashes will be taken back to Montana, to the spot he loved best.
