Lavonne Frazier

January 5, 1927 — February 11, 2013

LaVonne Frazier passed away surrounded by family at Providence St. Mary Hospital in Walla Walla, on Feb. 11, 2013.

LaVonne was born on Jan. 5, 1927, to Floyd James and Irene McElroy Buck in Walla Walla. She grew up in College Place attending the College Place Public Schools and graduating from Walla Walla High School. She attended Washington State College,
Vogue Fashion School in Chicago, Illinois, and Chicago Art Institute.

On Nov. 16, 1947, LaVonne married, the love of her life, Robert D. Frazier. They were married 61 wonderful years before Bob passed away on April 12, 2009. LaVonne was an active partner with Bob in their family farming operation growing wheat and raising cattle and the hotel business. She received great joy in art, sculpturing, watercolor, and stained glass. LaVonne was very creative planning fun activities for family and friends.

She was the Past Matron of Order of Amaranth at 28 years old, 50 year member of Bridgettes, Associate member of Junior Club, Member of the Walla Walla Country Club and 18-Hole Women’s Golf Association, member of Four Seasons, member of PEO Chapter AD, and member of the Presbyterian Church. Her greatest joy was being with her 3 children, Kay, Jane, and Bill, and her 7 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.

LaVonne and Bob traveled extensively throughout the world with friends and meeting new ones. She loved to ski and golf while enjoying the summers and winters at their condo in Sun Valley, Idaho.

She is survived by her daughter, Kay Hand Wessel and husband, Jan; daughter, Jane DeWitte Buchanan and husband, Bob; and son, William Frazier and wife, Libby, all of Walla Walla; seven grandchildren, Mike Hand and wife Jodi of Walla Walla, Bob Hand and wife Shannon of Walla Walla, Peter Hand of Bellevue, Wash., Ben DeWitte of Portland, Claire DeWitte of Palmer, Alaska, Megan Golden and husband, Brent, of Walla Walla, and Brooke Frazier of Seattle; six great grandchildren, Owen Hand, Carson Hand, Kamryn Hand, Parker Hand, Laney Hand, and Brielle Golden. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Frazier; and brother, Floyd James Buck, Jr.

There will be a private graveside service at the Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Frazier Farmstead Museum or charity of your choice through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla, WA.
