Walla Walla

Lavonne Berry, age 86, passed away peacefully at Providence St. Mary Medical Center on July 5, 2025.

Born in Junction City, Oregon, Lavonne spent her childhood in the Grand Ronde Valley near Somerville, where she learned to fish, hunt, crochet, cook, and proudly led the Nimbler cheerleading team.

Lavonne graduated from Eastern Oregon College and Kinman Business University in Spokane, Washington. On July 15, 1961, she married Chuck Berry of La Grande, Oregon. Together, they had two children, Sandra and Steven.

The family moved to Walla Walla, Washington in 1971, where Lavonne devoted herself to raising her children. She was an active and dedicated member of many organizations, including the Children’s Home Society, several Walla Walla bowling leagues, and others in the community.

Lavonne is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Chuck Berry; her daughter, Sandi (David Winn); her son, Steven Berry (Gloria); and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Lavonne enjoyed participating in, coaching, and cheering on others in various sports. Her passion for life and her ability to share love and joy with everyone she met made her an extraordinary person who touched the hearts of many.

Lavonne’s life was rich with family, friends, and love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A Private Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
