Lauretta Jean Headding, 87, passed away Jan. 18, 2016, at Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla.
She was born Sept. 10, 1928, in Kennewick to Charles and Elma Parks. Lauretta was the second of five children. Lauretta grew up and attended school in the Yakima Valley. She met Orville, her husband of 68 years, not long after graduating high school.
They had a long, happy life together. Lauretta was a bookkeeper for most of her career before retirement. Traveling and golf were a couple of her favorite pastimes. Lauretta loved being creative and had a natural talent for sewing, knitting, crocheting
and upholstering.
Her greatest love was her family. Lauretta is survived by her sister, Doris; brother, Wayne; daughter, Debra Meck; sons-in-law, Tim Meck and Dan Furrow; three grandsons, Todd Daniel, Daniel and Andy Furrow; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great grandsons.
Lauretta is preceded in death by her husband, Orville; daughter, Karen; granddaughter, Kimberly; parents, Charles and Elma; sister, Lillian; brother, Bruce.
A private family graveside service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence St. Mary Cancer Center through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
