Laurel Joy Helm

Laurel Joy Helm, age 74, of Walla Walla, passed away unexpectedly on February 17th, 2019. She was attended to lovingly by the Walla Walla Sheriff's Office, Walla Walla Fire and EMS crew and St Mary's ER staff to whom we are grateful for.

Laurel has been a dedicated member of the Walla Walla community for over 50 years. She served as a member of the American Little League Program in the capacity of concessions and as president of the board for over 12 years. Laurel has served in many different callings as a member of the Relief Society. As a Seminary and Institute teacher Laurel touched the lives of so many blessed youth of our community. Together, she and her husband Art served as missionaries in the Dayton Washington area for two years. Her love and dedication to her community and family will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her three sons, Jeff Helm (Renee Helm), Matt Helm, and Joseph Helm (Jasmin Helm), her sister Mae Ross (Bill Ross) and brother Robin Loynd (Patty Loynd), 8 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Laurel was preceded in death by her mother and father, eldest brother and her beloved husband.

Viewing and Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home.  Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 22 ^, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the Walla Walla Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  A graveside dedication will take place at Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the service.

Memorial Contributions in Laurel’s name may be made to the Annual Art Helm Memorial Golf Tournament for cancer survivors through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W Alder St. Walla Walla, WA.
