Larry Paul Meyer

November 7, 1934 — August 10, 2013

Larry Meyer passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2013, at his home with his family at his side. He was 78 years old.
On July 1, 1956, he married Sharon Cothrell in Peoria,Ill., where the family lived for 17 years. The family moved to Walla Walla in August 1973 to help establish
the Nelson Irrigation Corporation on Airport Road.

In Illinois, Larry attended the University of Illinois,
Bradley University in Peoria, plus took four years of additional training at Caterpillar Manufacturing Co., in the ADT program. Larry had a God-given talent for anything mechanical and was very creative. His
favorite hobbies were working in his shop building
various projects. Before his years of illness, he also
enjoyed flying. He received an achievement award in
1997 from the National Irrigation Association and
has several patents in his name.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; five children, Lorraine
(Lori) Meyer, Janet (Ken) Burt, Dianne Meyer,
Russ (Jane) Meyer and Elaine (J.P., Jr.) Kent; one
brother, Allan (Marymae) Meyer, in Chicago. He was
preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret
(Cook) Meyer.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Walla
Walla Community Hospice, the Christian Aid Center,
or charity of choice through the Herring Groseclsoe
Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder St., Walla Walla,
WA 99362. Visitation will be held at Herring Funeral
Home on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, from 4 p.m. until
7 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Friday,
Aug. 16, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Pioneer United Methodist
Church with a light lunch to follow.
