Sept. 25, 1951 — Jan. 12, 2019
Kenneth Wayne Jundt, age 67, was called home on Saturday, January 12, 2019, from his home in Walla Walla.
He was born on September 25, 1951, in Yakima, to Adam and Julia (Thomas) Jundt. He grew up in Yakima with his six siblings, graduating from Carroll High School in 1969.
Ken attended Central Washington University and graduated in 1974 with a degree in biology. He then began his 31-year career with the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife, a job that suited his love for the outdoors well. On June 26, 1981, he married Joan (Powell) the love of his life. They were blessed with four daughters who survive him, Heather (husband Mark) in Longview, Andrea (husband Brian) in Las Vegas, and Amanda and Mollie in Walla Walla. He is also survived by his wife, Joan; seven grandchildren three brothers, Richard, Jake, Patrick; and two sisters, Jean, Charlotte. He joins his parents and sister, Susan in heaven.
Ken had a love for life that he spread to all who were lucky enough to know him. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman, finally winning the lottery this year to go on his long-awaited big moose hunt with his best friend since childhood, Chuck Kohls. He was also an amazing cook who loved trying new recipes, and he loved reading and learning. Most of all he loved his family and he will be dearly missed.
Rosary service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Herring Funeral Home Chapel; memorial service is 2 p.m. on Wednesday Jan. 16, at St. Patrick’s Church, 415 W. Alder Street.
