Keith Allen Weathermon, 57, of Walla Walla, Washington, passed away on April 17, 2026, after a courageous fight with cancer. In his final hours, he started his eternal journey surrounded by his daughter, sister, mom, nephew, and a hospital room packed with friends. As in his life, in his passing, he was surrounded by so many people who loved him.
Keith graduated from DeSales High School, class of 1986, and Gonzaga University in 1990. He married Suzanne Keller in 1996, and together they have a daughter, Caitlin. He built a career in banking, rising to Senior Vice President at Banner Bank.
After retiring, he set out to explore the world on his own terms. Keith spent much of his life traveling by motorcycle, on foot, and by bike, with a camera in hand. He often wrote about and photographed the places he traveled, sharing them with others. He completed expeditions on Mount Rainier, Mount Hood, Popocatépetl, and Annapurna. Additionally, he walked the Camino de Santiago and biked down the Baja Peninsula. His love of running turned into a passion and took him to extremes, competing in the Caballo Blanco in the Copper Canyon and the Moab 240 ultramarathons. His travels also took him through Egypt, Israel, Gaza, Nepal, Austria, and throughout Europe.
Precious moments from Keith's travels stayed with him, including a time in Egypt when he was invited into a family's home for dinner after pausing to photograph their doorway, a moment that reflected the openness he often encountered. He also visited places of historical and spiritual significance, including the Burning Bush near Mount Sinai and the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. He stood before the Pyramids, struck by their scale, and swam in the Red Sea. In Budapest, he was moved by the Holocaust memorial, 'Shoes on the Danube Bank'. Whether traveling alone or with others, he formed connections easily, often turning brief encounters into lasting friendships.
When he returned home, he served as a City Ambassador in downtown Walla Walla, taking pride in caring for the town and connecting with people he met. It was a role that suited him: outside, among people, caring for his community.
Keith, known to many as "Mayhem," will be remembered for his humor and kindness. Those who knew him felt his loyalty and genuine interest in the people around him. As a father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, he gave fully to the people he loved. We will always remember him saying, "Gots to go!"
Keith is survived by his daughter, Caitlin Weathermon; mother, Kathie Weathermon; sister, Peggy Weathermon Kunz; nephew, Rhett Kunz; aunts, Caroll Weathermon Hardesty, Helen Moro Mork, and Karen Moro Wolf; and many family and friends who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, Darell "Bud" Weathermon, his aunt, Lynn Moro Schultz, and his uncle, Frank Moro.
In keeping with who he was, Keith chose to be an organ donor, and his corneas will give others the gift of seeing the world through his eyes.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, June 20, 2026, on the Alumni Patio at DeSales High School. Further details will be shared soon.
The Weathermon family wishes to thank Julie Schultz, the oncology team at Summit Cancer Center, and the staff at St. Mary's Hospital for their care.
In true Keith fashion, skip the flowers and take someone you love to breakfast.
