Kathryn Marie Lemm

Kathryn Marie (Kay) Lemm passed away in Walla Walla at the Odd Fellows Home on August 9, 2014. She was 91. There will be a memorial service at Holy Family Catholic Church in Clarkston, Washington on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 11 am. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice through Herring Groseclose Funeral Home 315 W Alder, Walla Walla, WA 99362, in memory of Kay Lemm. Kay was born December 7, 1922 to Paul and Molly Schurman in Ellensburg, Washington. She was the second oldest in a family of 6 children. Kay graduated from high school in Port Angeles, Washington. With encouragement from her older brother, Clayton, Kay joined the US Naval Service in April, 1943. She took pride in being the first woman to join from Nez Perce County.

In August 1949, she married Leo Lemm in Clarkston, Washington. They built a home above the Clarkston County Club in 1953 and she lived in the house until 2011. Kay had many friends and interests. She loved to travel, garden, bake and play golf and bridge. She was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and its groups.

She is survived by her son, Mike Lemm (Sue) of Walla Walla; a daughter, Linda Dykes (Dave) of Spokane; granddaughters, Kelsey Parker (James) of Bemidji, MN, Mandy Roller of Missoula, MT; grandsons, Ryan Lemm of Seattle, WA and Jeremy Roller (Melissa) of Spokane; sisters, Phyllis Cole and Molly Beutler both of Clarkston, Jane Koller (Don) of Pomeroy and brother, Paul Schurman (Helen) of Spokane. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, son, Leo Jr. and brother, Clayton.

She will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
