Karen "Kitty" Dorthea Lucas

Born July 23, 1936 to Carl and Sylvia (Benna) Swanson in Los Angeles, California.  Her family moved to Albert City, Iowa where her father farmed corn and soy beans.  After high school she attended college in Davenport, Iowa where she met and then married Ted Lucas.  She and Ted moved to Walla Walla to work and raise their children Dino and Lisa. Kitty and Ted later divorced.

Kitty enjoyed spending her time doing needlepoint, playing Bridge and Bunco, reading and tending to her rose garden.  She enjoyed stage productions and was a cast member for a number of Little Theater plays.  She also sang with the Sweet Adelines for many years.  She had a wide group of friends that included gal pals Pat, Betty, Marlene and Linda.  Her neighbors and her neighbor’s pets knew her well for being friendly and generous with treats.

Kitty is survived by a son, Dino Lucas (Michele); a daughter, Lisa Lucas (Jim Kent); grandchildren include, Benjamin Harter, Corey Harter, Whitney Lucas (Shawn Stalberger) and Ian Lucas; great-grandchildren include, twins Otto and Rudy Stalberger.

A Celebration of Life will be hosted by the family at the home of Dino and Michele Lucas on Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 1-3 p.m., friends are welcome.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA.
