Kareen Lee Hoover 87, of Dayton, WA passed away at Providence St. Mary's in Walla Walla, WA on March 8, 2024.
Kareen was born in Dayton, WA on Dec 14, 1936, to Guy and Nyla (Howard) Spalinger. Later in life while attending college Kareen met the love of her life, Harvey Jo Hoover, who was in the navy. They got married on June 21, 1958. Although Kareen was unable to have children of her own, God blessed them with 2 young boys who they adopted, Guy Wayne Hoover and Joe Lee Hoover. These boys were raised with unconditional love and support. Family was always a top priority.
Kareen and Harvey were very involved in the community. Kareen for many years wrote a column in the Dayton chronicle called "Kareen's corner" and was active in Dayton days. Harvey worked for the REA until retirement. They lived a long and happy life together spending lots of time camping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends. The unfortunate loss of Harvey on March 13,2021 left Kareen heartbroken.
Kareen and Harvey are preceded in death by their son Joe Hoover and Kareen’s brother George w. Spalinger. They are survived by their son Guy Hoover, Granddaughter Andrea Thompson, Nieces Lorraine Love and Renée Ventresca, Nephew George E. Spalinger, great grandsons Jace Wilkinson and Kadance Wilkinson.
