Josefina Deleon Torres

Our most treasured mother & grandmother, Josefina “Fina” DeLeon Torres is now part of God’s chorus in Heaven having departed this earth March 26, 2012. During her last moments on earth, Josefina was surrounded by her loving & devoted family.

Josefina was born October 27, 1924 in Piedras Negras, Mexico to Vincent & Elena Gavin DeLeon. On November 22, 1942, she married Tomas Torres in Eagle Pass, Texas.

Josefina was most happy with her family by her side and her forever loyal dog, “Opie.” Everyone loved her most delicious tortillas & tamales. She was her son Richie’s best friend. All the grandchildren & great grandchildren truly adored & loved her. She was the strength & pillar of the family. Josefina leaves her family a most humbleness of faith & kindness. She will truly be missed & live forever in our hearts.

She is survived by 2 daughters & sons-in-law, Maria & Pedro Sanchez of Walla Walla, WA & Josefina & Ismael Marquez of Milton Freewater, OR; 4 sons & daughters-in-law, John & Bonnie Torres of Walla Walla, WA, Ricardo & Kimm Torres of Walla Walla, WA, Oscar & Carol Torres of Caldwell, ID and Jesse & Maria Torres of Phoenix, AZ; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers & 4 sons, Danny, Hector, Rudy & Gustavo Torres.

Viewing & visitation will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 from 11:00 AM until after the Rosary at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla, WA. The Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at 6:00 PM also at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 30, 2012 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home.
