Jose (Joe) Armijo Moreno passed away January 3, 2018, in Walla Walla, at the age of 64. Joe was born September 15, 1953, in Salem, Oregon to Rodolfo and Emilia Moreno. He grew up with four siblings, Arnie, Rey, Vangie, and Diane. He attended Ferndale, Garrison, and graduated from Wa-Hi in 1972. Joe was All State and All Conference in football, basketball, and baseball during his high school career. On July 17, 1976, Joe married the love of his life, Arlene (Johnson) Moreno. Joe worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 36 years and retired in 2013. He was an avid family man who loved attending his children and grandchildren’s activities.
Joe and Arlene have four children, Dax (Erin) Moreno, Stephanie (Andy) Angotti, David Moreno, and Alyssa Moreno. He has eight grandchildren, Clayton, Cannon, Rocco, Grayson, Kieron, Sedalita, Amalie, and Baylyn. He is survived by his wife, (Arlene), children, and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Rodolfo Moreno.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at 12 p.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m., with Father Estaban Soler, Celebrant. Memorial contributions may be made to the Blue Mountain Humane Society through the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home, 315 W. Alder, Walla Walla WA 99362.
