Jonathan Charles Coffeen won his 15-year battle with Parkinson’s on October 7, 2018, surrounded by his family.
Jon was born on May 12, 1953, to Willis and Virginia Coffeen in Tacoma, Washington. Jon’s life was an adventure. He built and captained commercial fishing boats in Bristol Bay, Alaska for over 40 years with his brother and father, and later his sons and nieces. He served as a Lieutenant for Fire District #4 for over 20 years. An outdoorsman, he went hunting each fall and claimed three Boone and Crocket trophy deer.
Jon was known for his integrity, hard work, and love for others. He earned a Master’s in Education and taught in the valley for many years. “Mr. C” is remembered fondly by former students.
He is survived by wife, Donna of Walla Walla; sons, Philip (Celina) of Walla Walla and Aaron of St. Helens, OR; brother, Nathanael (Janalee); nieces, Kendra and Kristen; and nephews, Jacob and Nathaniel.
No services will be held at Jon’s request.
