John "Woody" Sidney Mcneill

John “Woody” Sidney McNeill, 67, died July 22, 2025, at his home in Dixie, WA.

John was born in Walla Walla, where he attended Walla Walla High School. He took their automotive course and graduated at the top of his class. From there, he enlisted in the Army in 1976 and was discharged in 1980.

John was a mechanic for John Deere from 1981-1986, he worked for Louisiana Pacific from 1986-1991, Crown Cork and Seal from 1991-1998, Farmers Co-Op from 1999-2002, from there he worked for the Walla Walla VA as a line cook until transferring to VTS, Veterans Transportation Service, and retired in 2023.

He enjoyed helping friends build and fix things, then having a BBQ after. He loved to go fishing, hunting, boating, and 4-wheeling. He really loved the outdoors. He loved riding his motorcycles and was a member of the Combat Veterans International (CVI) Motorcycle Club.

John is survived by his wife of 40 years, Rita McNeill; daughter, Barbie O’Neal (Aaron) of St. Petersburg, FL; son, John Duane McNeill (Aubrey) of Walla Walla, WA; sister, Kristina Dee Brown of Walla Walla, WA; and five grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Sidney Duane McNeil; his mother, Ada True Spencer; and his sisters, Janie and Linda.

There will be no service at this time. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date by the family.
