John W. Hapner

Angels came for John on September 18, 2022, peacefully at home with his family by his side.

John was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Howard and Beulah Hapner. John’s parents moved the family to Lowden, WA when John was one year old. He went to school in Lowden until 6th grade. After that, John’s parents made another move to Tacoma, WA, where he finished his schooling and enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Philippines. He loved going to his Navy Reunion’s and spending time with all his buddies.

John worked for Rogers Cannery in Walla Walla for 37 years, retiring in 2006. His mother-in-law Introduced him to golf, and he was instantly addicted; a Hole in One in 2004 and a Hole in One in 2009. John and his wife went on many cruises over the years and loved every one of them. He loved Golf, Football, and NASCAR.

John is survived by his wife Patti of 52 years; five daughters, Carie Hapner Brooks (Robert) and Christy Lotz of Walla Walla, Elizabeth Chapin (Rudy) of Ferndale, WA, Linda Clark of Richland, and Cherlyn Milne of Bremerton, WA; and one furry companion. “Oreo”; sister, Elsie Lee of Porterville, CA; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Michael Breiner of Walla Walla and Wesley Royse of Apache Junction, AZ; and several nieces and nephews that loved their Uncle Johnny.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Clifford and Lester Hapner, and sister, Carol.

Graveside service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 1:00 PM, at Mountain View Cemetery, 2120 S. Second Ave. with Reverend Grant Knowles officiating.
